Polola Restaurant emerges as a captivating fusion of crafted charm and modern elegance onto the Townsville dining scene. Polola embodies the laid-back sophistication of its Mexican inspiration, inviting patrons to experience a culinary journey unlike anything seen outside of a capital city.
Challenged with a dynamic brief, our task was to craft a space seamlessly transitioning from an intimate dinner setting to a vibrant cocktail bar, all while embodying a timeless aesthetic. The goal? To evoke a sense of modernity intertwined with a feeling of timeless familiarity, as if the venue had been a fixture for generations.
With its striking design, Polola presents a unique challenge — the transformation of a narrow, voluminous space into an intimate oasis of warmth and authenticity. Drawing inspiration from the rustic charm of Tulum, the design team employed hand-troweled rendered walls and hand-made terracotta brick tiles to infuse the space with a sense of artisanal craftsmanship and earthy elegance.
