In 2018, Faith Williams saw a gap in the industry for blonde specialists and tapped into her entrepreneurial skills to provide Brisbane with one of its first Blonde expert salons. Since its inception in 2018, Blondee has gone from strength to strength, with an ever-growing team and an even bigger waitlist.
Beyond the talent, experience, and hard work of the Blondee team, their salon space has become a defining feature of the brand. Their first salon, situated in the upmarket area of Newstead, first opened its doors in late 2019, and Alkot Studio was tasked with designing their now-iconic interiors.
With the objective of creating an inclusive, interactive space for a predominantly female clientele, understanding the modern woman was imperative. Hair appointments can be time-consuming, so for the busy and time-poor, this can turn a usually relaxing activity into a stressful one. To alleviate this stress, Blondee Newstead was extended to create a workspace that could be utilised while clients wait for their hair colour to develop. The area features a long, oval-shaped oak table equipped with all the necessities required to work remotely. This allows clients to multitask whilst they’re getting pampered. This feature was replicated in Blondee’s second salon, located in Morningside and opened in June 2021.
Drawing inspiration from the salon’s specialisation - creating the perfect blonde - the colour palette has been kept neutral. Warm and calming shades of beige, blush, and pale terracotta are accented with pale timber and brown leather seats. The arch motif, hugely on-trend when Blondee Newstead was opened, has been carried throughout both salons, from the mirrors to the entryway. To capitalise on the abundance of natural light, sheer curtains have been utilised to enhance the soft and organic feeling of the salon. They also act as subtle room dividers.
Bearing in mind that Newstead was Blondee’s debut salon and needed to be built to budget, Alkot Studio has been able to achieve a beautifully calming and inviting space, with sleek and modern design elements that have become synonymous with the visual identity of the Blondee brand.
